Key/Coat Rack

Here is a little thingy I painted last night for my friend Brooke. I was hoping it would turn out good enough to be something she would actually put on her wall... But. Hopefully she will see through the tacky and see the cute and the love that went into it. Haha.

Walmart has a pretty good little section of wooden "items" that you can paint, like this.

Squiddy!

Getting the hang of inkscape. :]

I like my little squid.

Garden Growth

I thought it was time for an update on my garden. My little plants have moved outside to the back porch/slab of cement/area:

The birdfeeders I have set up are always full of birds. Squirrels, too, but what can you do?

Henrietta the turtle has a new friend, Charley the Broadheaded Skink. I found him inside my house last week, and Stephen helped me catch him. We found a petrified rice crispy treat in the backyard to put in the tank for him to sun on. He loves his crickets from Petsmart!

Indoor Garden

For Valentine's Day I got a beautiful orchid, some potting soil, a window flower box, and seeds. A few weeks ago I finally got around to planting my little garden and the results are just beginning to pop up! Even though we had a pretty snowfall a few days ago, nature is alive and well in my kitchen.

On the kitchen table I have peppers and tomatoes. See my cute little tomato plant starting to grow?

In the window I have my african violet, some sunflower seedlings, and okra is just starting to come out in the flower box. At Grandma's for dinner last night, she said okra was probably going to be very difficult to grow, but to go for it anyway. So, I am.

Also, if you didn't notice, another little friendly face is sunning herself in the window and feasting on chicken. My neighbor's box turtle is hanging out at my house for a little bit. I'm hoping he will see that I take good care of her and just let me keep her. After doing a little research on box turtles, I found out that males will have curvy back toenails, while a female's will be more straight. I'm guessing she is a female. I've been calling her Tess today, but I don't know if it's going to stick.

PS: Sorry for the bad quality cell pics (I'm too poor to buy batteries for my real camera, haha! But seriously).

Sick and Sewing

I have started on a new project--a blanket. I am embroidering little designs and things on one side to spruce it up a bit. It came at a good time because I've gotten sick and have to rest. Instead of having nothing to show for laying around, I'll have made a craft to enjoy when I'm feeling better. Yay!

More pictures to come later. Here is a part I finished yesterday: a chinchilla!

Animal Portraits

I really like these prints from Berkley Illustration. I think they'd be perfect pictures to hang in a bathroom.

Even more, I'd like to try my hand at a few animal portraits myself.
